Initially planned as a digital-only release, iTunes was the first to have Flaming Lips' Dark Side available, with other digital retailers following a week later. To celebrate Record Store Day four months later, 5000 vinyl copies were pressed mostly on seafoam green vinyl, with 500 on clear vinyl.
This is a beautifully made heavy-cardboard gatefold package with printed inner sleeve and bonus full CD. The record is packed in an alternate white die-cut sleeve.
Pitchfork.com only gives it 5.2/10 but it deserves much better than that. They call the guest list a clusterfuck- were they expecting Neil Young or Eric Clapton? It's the fucking Flaming Lips!!
Slant gives it 2.5/5 stars.
Sputnik gives it a 4/5 rating with a good detailed review- they seem to have it right (I will link them more often)
