Girls: Father, Son, Holy Ghost

Girls release their 2nd album (but 3rd record- there was a 6 song EP in 2010) and now they are a full band instead of a duo.

The legends of Rock & Roll history are easy to pick out from one track to the next, which makes a pretty cool record. Each cut is something different but that's not to say Girls lack their own sound- the influences are mashed up so much that this is no cheeky tribute band.

This record will land just on the outside of my top 10 new music releases for 2011.

Keeping with the black & white theme artwork, one LP is on white vinyl, the other on black (nice touch!), packaged in a gatefold with full lyrics on the front cover (another nice touch!). Records are in plain white sleeves, and the album does come with a download card.  Both iTunes and Amazon downloads each have an exclusive bonus track, and a 3rd non-album track was released on a separate, single-side heart-shaped 10" vinyl single (or single download).  Though the vinyl package is pretty sweet as is, adding these extra cuts would have been a 3rd nice touch.
